Ircle quick startup guide

After you launched Ircle, you will get several windows on your screen. To set up your personal information find your Connections window.

Connections window

In this window you will see 4 columns Nr. (of your connection), Status (tells you if you are connected or not), Nickname (your nickname on that particular connection) and Server (name of the server).
IRC consists of lots of different servers and networks. With Ircle you can be connected up to 10 networks/servers at the same time.

Server If you want to select a different server from you serverlist or add a new server, click on the 'server'-button. You will get a new window with the serverlist where you can choose a server. If you dont select a server, Ircle will use the default server for that particular connection as shown in your connections window.
Nickname Most people use a nickname instead of their real name on irc. In the nickname field you can enter your nickname. Your nickname may not contain over 9 characters. Most of the irc servers don't accept that.
Username Username name can be anything you like.
However, some servers do require that you use your real accountname (your login-name of your internet account).
Using another username than your real accountname can result in a rejection by the server.
Mostly this is a policy of that particular network that the server is connected to, and connecting to a different server of that network won't solve the problem.
Password You can leave this blank. You only have to fill in your password here, if you want to connect to a server that requires a password.
Real name You can fill in anything you like. This information can be seen by other users, so please be careful with private/personal information like emailaddress or you real name.
Auto connect to server Check this checkbox if you want Ircle to automatically connect you to the server on startup.
Invisible Check this checkbox if you want to be invisible to other users. If you are invisible only the people who know your nick and the people who are on the same channel as you are, are able to see you.
WALLOPS Wallops are public messages between IRC Operators (server operators). You are able to see those messages by checking this checkbox.
Receive server messages If you want to receive server messages, check this checkbox.

After you changed all the settings click the 'OK'-button and choose 'Save Preferences' from your File Menu. After that go to your Connections window and click on the 'connect'-button. Ircle will connect you to the server. Once your are connected, you can join a channel by using the following command /join #channelname (f.e. /join #ircle) followed by return. Or choose 'Join' from your Command Menu and enter the channelname of the channel you want to join.

Please Note:
After making changes to your settings, always choose 'Save Preferences' from your File Menu!
